At the most basic level, game play within Crucible of Fate adheres to the rules of D&D 5E. This means Round 2 will begin with 60 Level 6 contestants, Round 3 with 30 Level 9 contestants, Round 4 will contain fifteen Level 12 contestants, and finally in the culmination of the Crucible of Fate competition, 6 Level 15 finalists will compete in the Crucible of Fate finale.


To be clear…three contestants must die in every episode. This means three contestants must die before the episode concludes, and those that survive an episode will have gained three levels and will advance to the next round.

Typically, one character will die in each game, but the survivors will level up between each game. In the first round of CoF, 20 episodes will be played, each with six Level 3 contestants, for 120 total contestants entering the competition.Įvery episode will begin with six contestants, and within each episode, three competitive games will be played.
